Module 4
The Keyboard for Beginners Course is a one-year, hybrid training program designed to develop functional keyboard proficiency for church and worship ministry. This course is offered by the National Music & Worship Unit and is structured to combine flexible online learning with intentional, hands-on in-person instruction.
The program consists of four instructional modules, delivered primarily online, allowing students to learn foundational concepts, techniques, and musical skills at a structured pace. At the end of each module, participants will attend a mandatory, all-day in-person intensive workshop, focused on practical application, skill refinement, and supervised playing. These sessions will be held in Kingston or at the Old Harbour Convention Centre.
This course emphasizes proper technique, consistency, and daily practice, recognizing that effective keyboard playing requires disciplined and regular engagement. Participants must have daily access to a keyboard and be willing to commit to ongoing practice throughout the year.
By the end of the program, students should be able to play confidently and competently in a church service, demonstrating functional proficiency, proper technique, and an understanding of their role as a keyboardist in worship ministry.
