Questions To Ask When Selecting Songs

  1. Is this song biblically and theologically sound?
  2. Who is the song about?
  3. Who am I speaking to in the song?
  4. What is main message of the song?
  5. Can the congregation sing this song?
  6. Is this song culturally acceptable in my congregation?
  7. How new/old is this song?
  1. Start with God!
  2. Sing more about God than about yourself
  3. Include a song of response to who God is
  4. Your song set must never start and end in the same place. Take the congregation on a journey.

A song asking God for cleansing, or inviting God into our midst and hearts because we need Him to be the object of our worship.

Proclamation & Praise

A song/s that declares who God is, highlights his characteristics. Every song should not have the same message.
